Mentoring
Mentoring, at its core, lets young people know that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity.
This is a Weekly 6+ Month Commitment to a Youth. Training and on-going support provided.
Mentoring is a life-transforming way of investing your time in a youth, however, depending on if you’ve mentored before, and how comfortable you are working with this population, you might consider beginning your volunteering with an activity that does not require a 6 month, weekly commitment to a youth. Monthly Community Service Socials, cooking and board game clubs are a great way to get to meet some of the youth, staff and chat with other volunteers.

- Mentors help young people expand career interests and encourage steps to achieve their goals.
- Mentors help with homework, advocate for school attendance, and can help their mentee set higher education goals.
- Mentors help youth believe they can create a future they want.*
